Here at Grandview Support Services of Virginia (GSS) we help our clients stabilize with meaningful and positive support. We look to empower by encouraging clients with individualized strength based interventions while assisting in developing coping strategies and personal management skills.
About us
Grandview Support Services of Virginia (GSS) is a short-term voluntary and interactive program for adults ages 18 and older who may be experiencing a mental health crisis or who may be chronically mentally ill and not improving on their own. We serve as a step-down unit from psychiatric units to a lower level of care and to residents in Richmond and surrounding counties that are experiencing a mental health crisis.
GSS offers diagnostic assessment and treatment for a full range of mental health conditions including mood and anxiety disorders, post-traumatic stress disorders and others. Individuals who require a safe and supportive environment for individual assessment, counseling, and medication management can receive that here at GSS.
Qualified mental health professionals along with our contracted clinical team collaborate to provide comprehensive care as well as individual therapy to help clients identify life stressors. Successful return to the family and community, as well as prior work, educational and leisure activities, is the goal of the program. Therefore, discharge planning begins soon after a patient is admitted to tailor appropriate aftercare and to help clients access the most appropriate services to continue treatment as needed.
Services
Services provided include:
- Continuous 24-hour observation, monitoring, and treatment
- Conducting psychiatric assessments, developing treatment plans, and making referrals
- Assessing, educating, medication management and substance abuse counseling
- Offering support for self-care needs, including symptom and behavior management
- Providing both individual and group counseling
- Developing comprehensive discharge plans.
